So last weekend we entered our first ever Hunter Trials!  It very nearly didn’t happen – a neighbour borrowed the box during the week & left it back with the lights broken & said nothing, so only discovered it this morning when we went to load up. OH is a bit obsessive about making sure lights & stuff are in order so wasn’t best impressed. And the weather was horrible, so it really wasn’t looking good! After 20 minutes fiddling with the lights in the rain he decided he couldn’t fix them, but he did manage to find a light board somewhere so he stuck that on the back door & off we went in the pouring rain!

It rained constantly for the whole day & the ground was awful – lots & lots of muck! Talk about a total change of scene from our usual Show Jumping in a nice dry indoor or at the very least a sand arena! The warm-up was so mucky I didn’t even bother jumping in it.

But Tizzy didn’t seem at all bothered by the muck & slippy ground, she took it all in her stride & didn’t put a foot wrong. I took it handy as the ground was so bad – didn’t see the point in galloping flat out and slipping & slipping into fences, so we had a nice clear round but were fairly slow.

Got soaked to the skin, but it was all good fun – can’t wait to do it all again soon! The XC bug has definitely bitten!
