Yesterday was the Equest & Hit-Air Masters Series Show Jumping Final in Mullingar, the qualifiers were held back at the start of the summer, I think we qualified way back in May. Anyway the weather was horrendous, pouring rain & strong winds the kind of day that anybody vaguely sane would stay inside in the warmth, but no I dragged myself out of bed at 5am to get poor Tizzy fed & plaited and ready to hit the road at 7.15
The weather didn’t improve any as the morning went on & we got soaked to the skin as we walked the course for the first class, then got soaked again while jumping.

Had a nice double clear in the first class the Welcome Stakes, but was just a little too slow in the jump-off so finished 8th.
Next up was the Table C Speed, and still no improvement in the weather had a lovely round though, Tizzy jumped super I just messed up one turn & lost a few valuable seconds so we finished in 7th just outside the ribbons.
The final class of the day was the Grand Prix, the weather had eased up a little for this but it was still very windy, I was unfortunate to just tip the first fence to finish on 4 faults. As it happened there were very few clears with only 6 making it through to the jump-off, so again I was just outside the ribbons finishing in 7th as the fastest of the four faulters.
This seen me finish in 6th place overall, so was happy enough with my day apart from the awful weather, but guess thats what we have to look forward to for the rest of the year.
